Though some time has passed since most people have had formal civics lessons, every day after we wake and leave the house, we are impacted by civics.
We are citizens, we have a government, we are a member of our community, we are seen, heard, and go on about our business.
The rights and responsibilities of citizenship are ours to practice every day or not.
Membership in the local neighborhood association is one way to practice citizenship. It says "I want to know my neighbors." "I want to know what's going on in government." "I want to share information about what is happening on my street and in my area." and "I want to uplift my community and make it better."
The Old Jefferson Community Association brings individuals together for the common purpose of discussing relevant matters to preserve our small town neighborhood feel.
In the eyes of government officials and supporting independent agencies like JEDCO, a formal neighborhood association with paid membership is a strong community voice as well as a key access point for two-way communication. After our startup year, we are now liaising with organizations that impact our daily lives in Old Jefferson. We want to be in touch with you, early communicate the information we have, and hear what's going on in your block.
Please consider joining or renewing your membership today. We need everyone's participation!
Thank you!
